First of all, I never put my name to a reference or recommendation if I am not 100% confident that the person or company deserves my support. I have known Jim Senger and his team for ~15 years. The first prime contracting job he completed was a major 3 story renovation and the addition of 2000 square feet. On the second job he managed a kitchen renovation and multiple upgrades throughout the house. His corporate team and trade subcontractors are the best. They are professional yet empathetic to the homeowners need to manage life in a construction zone. From start to finish the work is simply exceptional. Jim keeps his teams on point by ensuring commitments are kept even if it means going above and beyond to complete the job on schedule. While the work on it’s own is enough for me to bring his company back again and again, what really makes Senger Contracting stand above everyone else is trust. That is not an easy thing to find in todays residential home improvement environment. Whether it is trusting a quote or perhaps the trust needed to say yes to “this needs to be done” or “that should be done” recommendations, Jim never takes advantage of a lack of trade knowledge or steers you into unnecessary work. Quite simply, he has earned my trust and respect. I am happy to say that his team of workers and subcontractors are held to the same high standard. I would not consider a home renovation without Senger Contracting at my side.
Jim is everything you want in a contractor, he’s a perfectionist and he’s honest. The trades people who work for him are first class, all the work is done to the highest standard. We had our kitchen and bathrooms renovated and are very happy with the results. Excellent finish, on time, on budget, no hassles, we would never use anyone else.
Thanks to Senger Contracting for making our kitchen renovation a most enjoyable and rewarding experience. We had used Senger Contracting back in September 2003 for our first renovation and were so impressed, we did not hesitate choosing them again in 2010 to remodel our kitchen and family room.
During both renovations the crew was very professional. At the end of every day, the premises were fully cleaned and prepared for the next day’s work. Budgets for both projects were what Jim quoted us as well as the timelines for completion were also met. One thing that stands out in our mind from the latest job is that all the trades we dealt with had nothing but high praises for Jim. They always said, “you are working with the best in the industry” or “I really like coming into Jim’s jobs as I know everything will be done right.”
Jim was recommended to us in the late 1980s by a neighbor of his, after a renovator walked out on us because he couldn’t do the job. Not only did Jim finish that job with no trouble at all, but he also fixed other problems that other renovators said couldn’t be done. It was such a relief to find someone who knew what he was doing. If Jim and his crew can’t do something themselves he has an endless supply of sub-contractors to call on. He is so personable and honest that all his subcontractors like and respect him and work is done happily and efficiently. It has always been a pleasure to have Jim and the guys around, even though renovations aren’t exactly relaxing. Jim is always full of great ideas and is willing to sit and chat about what needs to be done and all the different ways to go about it and the advantages and disadvantages of the different ideas. In the end it’s up to choose what you want to do – he’s not the pouty prima donna type who pushes his ideas on to you.
Jim helped us repair and rejuvenate a rather run down house in town. When we moved to an acreage he helped to completely change the house there. He added a conservatory with a fish pond, something he’d not undertaken before, but was perfect and just what we wanted. He added dormer windows upstairs to lighten it up and add space. He made a room to contain the water tanks for the pond, and then converted into an art studio when our plans changed. He rearranged corridors and doors to accommodate the changes, put in new flooring, decorated, repaired etc. He even did some landscaping, not really his speciality, but he quite enjoyed a day working outside in the summer. We moved to a smaller acreage nearer the city to a very rundown house. Jim helped with many, many repairs, including putting sunrooms over the leaky balconies. If we move again we’ll be calling Jim.
Over the past several years we have had Senger Contracting Ltd. do a variety of inside and outside renovations for us. The last two major renovations were a complete kitchen and a complete master bedroom en suite. In all instances we have been very happy with all facets of our renovation including cost estimate, selection of sub trades and suppliers, cleanliness on the work site, and most importantly the final results! Jim is always on the top of the project, communicates well and often, and best of all when he says something will happen at a particular time he makes sure that it does! We would and have gladly recommended Jim to others and will continue to do so.
I would highly recommend Jim Senger for any job—large or small. He is very competent, talented, honest and very much a professional. Jim provides superb suggestions and recommendations. Together you will work together to make the right choice. The sub-contractors he employs are reliable, proficient, experienced and skilled at their talents. The scheduling of the jobs were not delayed or postponed. Jim oversees all the projects to make sure they are completed to meet his high expectations. The many projects I had done were of superior quality.
Jim Senger of Senger Contracting Ltd. takes pride in his work and it shows in the results. The skillful trades that he employs are working to provide customer satisfaction and quality workmanship. They are hired not only for their work skills but also for their honesty and integrity. The people with Senger Contracting make home renovating a joyful experience with a grand final ending.
Like most people the thought of renovating a kitchen is rather intimidating. After having water damage in our kitchen from a leak in our roof we decided to go ahead and renovate the kitchen. We contacted Jim Senger and our fears of renovating our kitchen were soon gone. Jim Senger, his staff, and trades were all very knowledgable and helpful with all aspects of building and renovating. Jim gave us his written quotation of what he expected the project to cost and the timeline to complete. Not only was the project completed before he said it would be, it was also on budget!
We did not require professional drawings from a designer or architect for our project. We showed Jim and his finishing carpenter pictures in magazines and discussed the style of kitchen we wanted. With their knowledge and experience they were able to provide us with our final design. Jim also suggested we could use some of our existing cabinetry by adding some custom carpentry and restaining the wood instead of replacing it all which we did not know was possible.
We love our kitchen and we continue to get complements on our kitchen when we have visitors. We have recommended him to others and will continue to do so.
Our project was significant, with the complete gutting of all three floors along with five additions to our home. The project required architectural and engineering drawings. Jim helped with the design, materials, and took care of all the requirements needed to obtain the development permit.
We chose not to leave our home during the renovation so we were extremely happy to see the project completed on time as promised. As a result of Jim’s dedication to quality tradesmen and products, the renovation seemed to run virtually stress free.
The work area was tidied nightly and Jim returned every evening to assess the work performance and inform us of the progress and plans for the next day. Jim, his crew, and the tradesmen were a joy to work with, punctual, knowledgeable, and considerate of our living space.
Our renovations were fabulous, Jim was honest and committed and we highly recommend Senger Contracting Ltd.
